The night of 25th of May, 2018
was indeed a spectacular night that SM employees have been preparing for – the
#AweSM Weekend Party at SM Lanang Premier highlighted the night in honor of
SM’s 60 years in the shopping industry.

SM’s humble beginnings are very admirable and inspiring. Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. first opened his first Shoemart store in downtown Manila and later on, introduced new merchandising and retail concepts. Fast forward to today, SM has close to a thousand retails store, 70 malls in the Philippines and 7 malls in China.
Mr. Henry Sy has always believed in tourism
as a catalyst which is why he built the likes of SM Mall of Asia, considered to
be one of the biggest malls in Asia. Aside from SM Malls, the company now owns
and operates world class hotels, a state of the art arena, convention, BDO
bank, resorts and conventions centers just to name a few.
SM is also a company that knows how to give
back. Through the SM Foundation, SM reaches out to communities with its various
educational, health and livelihood training programs that cater to making
farmers self-sufficient. Through SM Cares, SM has undertaken environmental
programs by building green spaces in its mall and also implemented
sustainability efforts to recycle trash.
Indeed, SM is seen to continue to dominate
the Philippine Shopping Industry and will continue to be a part of the lives of
Filipinos in the years to come.
